Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Implement effective public outreach strategies for high profile transportation projects,
* Create, edit, and produce public involvement documents and social media content,
* Take initiative and ownership of public involvement tasks and guide the project team to develop effective strategies to solicit feedback and input from the public,
* Monitor and respond to public hotlines and emails accounts,
* Facilitate and organize open houses, workshops, public hearings, neighborhood meetings, ground breakings, ribbon cuttings, workshops, and other public events,
* Prepare talking points, multi-media presentations, newsletters, public exhibits, display boards, meeting summaries and documentation,
* Work closely with client to ensure communications alignment with agency,
* Attend external project, agency, and community meetings to provide public involvement updates and identify public involvement issues,
* Interact with the public utilizing a wide range of traditional and innovative communication methods,
* Assist with the development of public involvement plans,
* Produce and maintain stakeholder databases and lead stakeholder risk identification,
* Interact in a clear and concise manner with a variety of diverse audiences, and,
* Performs other duties as assigned or required by WSP USA Inc. and our clients

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

* 3+ years of experience in communications or public engagement
* Bachelor's Degree in communications, community planning, marketing, or a related field
* Public engagement experience in transportation industry
* Ability to synthesize qualitative data into summaries and reports
* Ability to summarize project status and communicate in plain language per Executive order 14-07. See https://www.leg.state.mn.us/archive/execorders/14-07.pdf
* Ability to write in short and complete sentences that use an active tone
* Ability to interpret traffic and construction plans
* Knowledge of State of Minnesota and other client branding guidelines
* Ability to facilitate meetings, focus groups, and workshops regarding transport projects
* Ability to work well with the public and interact effectively with all organizational levels, including agency staff, senior management, executive leadership, board members, community leaders, and city/county/state representatives,
* Excellent verbal and presentation skills that avoids the use of jargon
* Ability to work independently and interdependently
* Ability to work beyond standard business hours
* Graphic Design Software Experience
* Strong time management skills and high attention to detail
* Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, InDesign, PDF Editor and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

* Knowledge and experience with media preferred
* Master's Degree in related field.
* Conflict Assessment and Management Expertise
