WSP is currently initiating a search for a Supervising Traffic Engineer for our Las Vegas, NV office to develop and manage a group of traffic and transportation professionals. This is an exciting opportunity to bring your expertise in traffic and team management together.

Building on our success, it is our intention to grow our traffic practice. This individual will actively contribute to the overall success of transportation infrastructure projects in the region. This position affords an individual the opportunity to work with a strong team of planners and engineers locally and nationally, and to establish new markets as our company's expertise expands.

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Manage projects and/or tasks on transportation and infrastructure projects in a collaborative setting with multiple disciplines
* Actively engage in marketing/business development activities
* Lead traffic studies and signals, lighting and ITS design
* Interpret, organize, execute and coordinate engineering assignments involving unique or controversial problems which significantly affect major projects
* Manage staff on a day-to-day basis, ensuring staff are working on the appropriate projects and providing high quality work for key clients
* Mentor staff in terms of career development and personal goals
* Perform regular reviews of staff goals and objectives
* Serve as primary contact for all traffic and ITS activities conducted in the Las Vegas area, and will coordinate closely with the West Region Traffic/ITS TEC Manager
* Coordinate with other disciplines, offices and stakeholders
* Represent respective projects at meetings and conferences
* Make recommendations on project staffing

Minimum Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Planning or related field
* Ten (10) years of relevant experience in traffic engineering or related field
* Nevada PE registration, or ability to receive within 6 months
* A core understanding of the role of traffic engineering principles and practices in the broader development and delivery of major urban transportation and infrastructure projects
* Strong technical writing, analytical and communications skills and ability to work within a team environment
* Excellent research and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

* Master's degree in Civil Engineering, Planning or related field
* Experience working with Nevada Department of Transportation, or other state entity, with progressively responsible experience working on interchange and/or freeway projects
* Experience working with public agencies in Las Vegas and southern Nevada
* PTOE certification
* Experience in mentoring and managing junior staff
