WSP is seeking a Senior Supervising Engineer - Electrical Group Lead for our New York office.

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to be responsible for the management of a group of approximately 15 electrical engineers within our Transportation and Infrastructure Sector with the goal of managing and growing the Electrical Engineering practice in our New York office. Candidates should be self-starters who bring positive attitude, integrity, and enthusiasm to our team.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Position involves managing a group of electrical engineers performing engineering design of electrical power distribution and associated control systems for various building, industrial, commercial, institutional and transportation projects, including electrical systems for bridges, airports, transit systems, rail and roadway tunnel systems and supporting facilities.
* Staff management responsibilities will include establishing and meeting the group's labor utilization and growth goals, performing staff goal setting and performance reviews, developing and maintaining staffing forecasts, and overseeing the development and advancement of the electrical staff.
* Candidates will be responsible for developing a business plan to increase electrical engineering business with selected clients (strategic focus) including: State agencies, developers, architects, owners, owners' representatives, etc.
* Candidates will be responsible to represent the firm in the market through involvement in client and industry events and associations to promote intelligence gathering and pipeline development, to develop new business leads, to develop strategic alliances and project partners to secure new work, to lead project pursuits, develop design cost estimates, to participate in negotiations to secure contract awards and, to oversee client relations for the business unit's strategic clients.
* As resource requirements grow, the candidate will participate in the recruitment of employees.
* Candidates should be proficient in bid preparations, financial tracking, document management and possess strong project management and communications skills that encompass project presentations, client relations / presentations, business development, contract negotiations. Effective multi-discipline staff communications abilities with all levels are also essential.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

* BS in Electrical Engineering
* PE license in the State of New York and at least 15 years of relevant experience is required
* Experience leading and managing a team of electrical engineers
* Excellent communications skills, both internally and externally, are critical as are the ability to be client facing and maintaining good client relations
* Good writing, verbal, and presentation skills
* Sound decision-making, strategic and creative business development capabilities
* Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and projects
* Strong technical background is required. Experience should encompass preliminary through final design, preparation of specifications and technical reports, project estimating, facility surveys and project construction support for new construction and renovations projects, as well as overall project management on multi-discipline teams.
* Familiarity with industry standards and codes is essential. These include the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), National Electrical Manufacturer's Association (NEMA), American National Standard Institute (ANSI), Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE), National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC) and state and local codes.
* Candidates must be able to immediately legally work in the US without sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

* LEED AP certification is preferred
* Preference will be given to local area candidates for employment in our New York office
