The WSP USA Geotechnical and Tunneling Technical Excellence Center has an immediate opening in Chicago, IL for a geotechnical engineer to provide engineering services to its clients on design and construction projects. Responsibilities include:

Serve as staff geotechnical engineer during subsurface exploration, design, and construction administration for infrastructure and building projects, in Illinois and surrounding states, and on major regional and national projects.
Field inspection & supervision of geotechnical investigation and construction for infrastructure and building projects.
Performance of geotechnical design and analysis for foundations, embankments, retaining walls, tunnels and underground structures.
Provide support for the development and production of plans, specifications, and reports related to geotechnical and tunnel aspects of infrastructure and building engineering projects.

Job Requirements
Candidate must be able to legally work in the US on a full time permanent basis immediately. Prior internship experience or employment in geotechnical or other civil/structural design and construction is preferred, but not required.. Minimum Required Education: Master of Science degree from a graduate Geological Engineering program or a Civil Engineering program with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering.

The candidate applying for this position should meet the following requirements:

Ability to perform geotechnical design and analysis of foundations, slopes, retaining walls, tunnels and other geotechnical projects under guidance of senior staff
Strong academic preparation in geotechnical engineering
Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Microstation.
Working knowledge of GIS
Working knowledge of project planning, cost estimating, scheduling and preparation of reports. Familiarity with Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project schedule software is preferred.
Ability and willingness for some travel and field work
Experience with geotechnical investigations and laboratory soil and rock testing is preferred.
Interest in performing construction inspection is required, and construction inspection experience related to earthwork, foundations or underground construction is preferred.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Minimum: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) registration in Illinois or another U.S. State.

Candidate must be able to legally work in the US on a full time permanent basis immediately.
