The Sr. Oil and Gas Design Engineer will be responsible for providing advanced insight into the design and development of Worthington's product line for the oil and gas industry.  This position will require both hands-on and theoretical experience in the design of pressure / non-pressure vessels, piping systems and process control.  Proven experience and thorough understanding of the ASME and API codes are required for this position. Both hands-on and theoretical experience with separation best practices for oil, water and gas are essential for this position.  This position will bring considerable oil and gas industry experience to the Worthington engineering team and provide leadership to develop new cutting edge technology for well pad vessel design.  This position will be able to take a customer request for well pad - oil/gas processing and perform the following, under self-direction:  Conceptual design, design calculations for vessel sizing, piping system design, process control / instrumentation selection and interaction with customer as necessary to refine concept and deliver a finished design.  Interaction with Worthington fabrication shops will be necessary to insure a complete and accurate fabrication is achieved.  THIS POSITION CAN BE LOCATED IN COLUMBUS OR BREMEN, OH (TRAVEL TO BREMEN WILL BE REQUIRED).

 

Additional responsibilities include the following:

 

  • Provide accurate and timely conceptualization and sizing of vessels

  • Provide final designs, meeting all necessary code requirements to fabrication shops in timely manner

  • Identify and submit 1 to 3 new product designs per year to the Worthington product line

  •  On a weekly basis will be receiving customer requests for design and build opportunities.  Must be able to translate the request into an appropriate vessel concept and communicate concept to design engineers, drafting and estimating.

  • Interact with customers to identify their specific separation requirements and recommend solutions; either existing designs or new customization

  • Work with design engineers to finalize sizing calculations and final design concept

  • Mentor less experienced engineers and designers on best design practices

  • Develop new product designs to supplement the existing product line

  • Advance the design of current product line

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree and or Master degree in Mechanical, Petroleum or Chemical Engineering

  • 10+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry with a direct role in engineering design
  • Hands on and theoretical experience with liquid / gas process instrumentation and control design
  • ASME training and or experience in sections I, II, V and VIII; API training in sections 12F and 650
  • Pro Engineer or Solid Works, Autocad, Compress (pressure design software) or similar

  • Expert at Design process (problem definition, research, inspiration, visualization, synthesis, human/trend inspiration). 

  • In depth knowledge of:   Oil / gas separation principles, oil / gas vessel design, piping systems design, heat exchangers, liquid / gas flow measurement, process instrumentation and control of hydrates.

  • Ability to clearly communicate expectations of the project to all involved and lead the team to the end result at or under budget and on time.
