Job Description

SUMMARY: The Production Scheduler provides the proper material to the operations units in accordance with inventory levels and customer requirements. This position decides how best to schedule equipment for effectiveness and efficiency while balancing machine capabilities, performance and availability, customer requirements, manpower, material, maintenance and shipping concerns. The Scheduler makes adjustments throughout the day based on progress against the schedule. The ideal candidate strives to achieve on-time customer delivery through problem solving, communication and knowledge of the customer requirements, machine capabilities and performance, and inventory controls.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates, maintains, reviews and categorizes work orders for most effective and efficient production schedules.
  • Prepares and enters schedules and submits to units.
  • Issue job packages.
  • Interacts with and coordinates machine time needs of customers, vendors, sales, quality, technical services, maintenance, production coordinators, shipping and receiving.
  • Monitors progress in hourly production schedules and hot sheets compared to the schedules and makes appropriate adjustments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Knowledge of machine capabilities and performance
  • Knowledge of the entire process flow from raw material through production to customer delivery
  • Knowledge of customer requirements
  • Lean Manufacturing experience
  • Basic math skills
  • Experienced with inventory controls
  • Proficient mainframe set-up, scheduling and inventory related screens
  • Proficient PC and Microsoft Office skills – Excel, Word, e-mail
  • Must have good organizational skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed with strong work ethic
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Ability to multi-task and work at a fast pace
  • Ability to work in a team

Education/Training Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience
