Worcester Polytechnic Institute - WPI


Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) offers a wide range of summer programs focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) for student in grades 4-12. Our academic programs bring over 1,000 students to campus. Programs are one to four weeks in length, both day and residential. We offer programs such as aerospace engineering, biology, chemistry, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, robotics, and more! The Office of Pre-collegiate Outreach Programs is looking to hire graduate students who are looking for a summer opportunity focused on pre-college and pre-orientation programs. This position provides a professional experience that involves coordination of undergraduate student staff training, participant orientation, program administration, residential life operations, student activities, event management, and STEM outreach.

The graduate interns will work together to ensure a seamless summer of programs. All interns will supervise a group of undergraduate students, serve on the on-call schedule, and address behavioral and/or medical incidents. Each graduate student will be assigned as a lead in a certain area, but will be expected to support all areas. The areas are residential life, evening and weekend activities, day programs, and multicultural affairs.

Graduate students will be able to enhance their skills and prepare for their first professional position. This position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, organization, good judgement, high level of adaptability, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. A successful intern will also exhibit a positive attitude, a sense of humor, and an interest to work with students and staff from diverse backgrounds.
