Job Description

These individuals have also demonstrated their skill in applying engineering fundamentals to technical challenges and successfully navigating ambiguity to breakdown problems to identify and define solutions. We have multiple opportunities for experienced Process Engineers in businesses that span our whole enterprise, including the Medical Products Division, Fabrics Division, Performance Solutions Division, and Core Technology.


 

As an experienced Process Engineer, your daily activities may include manufacturing process improvement and modification, expansion of process capabilities, and further enhancement of material technology, while ensuring a safe and cost-effective work environment. You will also have opportunities to contribute to the installation, operation, maintenance, and upgrade of production and testing equipment, equipment layout, and workflow.

Responsibilities include: 

  • Providing day-to-day process support for the manufacturing of existing products and transition of new products and processes into manufacturing
  • Applying formal problem-solving techniques to determine root cause, troubleshooting non-conforming products, raw materials, and components, and developing and implementing corrective and preventative action (CAPA) plans
  • Identifying opportunities to continuously improve our products and processes and assess for regulatory, quality, ergonomic, safety, environmental, and cost impact?
  • Understanding product fitness-for-use and critical process parameters to ensure the process reliability delivers a fit for use product that meets all specifications and customer requirements
  • Planning and executing technical work using statistical techniques including Design of Experiments and Statistical Process Control
  • Creating procedures and providing training and coaching to other technical and manufacturing associates
  • Driving a wide range of process projects throughout the development cycle: development, scale-up, validation, and improvement (improved safety, cost, quality, capability, and capacity)


 


Required Qualifications: 


  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering


  • At least 3 years of applied hands-on engineering experience in a manufacturing environment post-graduation


  • Solid knowledge of engineering fundamentals and demonstrated ability to apply them to development, optimization, and troubleshooting activities


  • Demonstrated ability to:


    • Prioritize, plan, and drive multiple projects concurrently from development to completion utilizing project management best practices         


    • Successfully interact with cross-functional teams, communicate effectively, and influence others as well as work independently


    • Identify critical issues and failure modes, creating a framework of action to address these issues and assess root cause including effective risk-based decision making


    • Leverage critical thinking to navigate technical and project uncertainties


  • Proven history of documenting and communicating work effectively


  • Working knowledge of statistical tools such as designed experimentation, process validation, and/or statistical process control in manufacturing processes


  • Willingness to sign IP and Confidentiality agreements


  • Ability to travel periodically (<10%)   


Desired Qualifications: 


  • 5-10 years of direct hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment as a Process Engineer


  • Experience with web handling


  • Experience developing or transitioning new process from R&D to pilot, to large scale commercial


  • Experience working within a quality system
