Job Description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Supervisor at our Shaker Heights campus.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for maintaining a preventative maintenance program of all vital and emergency equipment. Coordinate all inspections, testing and repairs of equipment to minimize the impact on other agency, departments, programs, and schedules.

  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe environment throughout the campus.

  • Responsible for keeping current all Life Safety logs and reports including Fire Drills, Alarm testing and Safety Inspections. Will be an active member of the Safety Committee. Keep current all MSDS books throughout the facility.

  • Supervise assigned staff through assigning work tickets, work schedules, and training. Responsible for closeout of work tickets and managing the maintenance database. Will perform an annual evaluation of each staff member and conduct immediate counseling whenever needed throughout the year.

  • Through in-services and meetings keep all staff informed of industry, code and agency changes or policy updates. Maintain employee attendance time sheets and records.

  • Coordinate with and monitor contractors and outside service providers as assigned and required.

  • Generate and/or maintains various daily, weekly or monthly reports/records; maintains various logs, supply inventories and records.

  • Act as a second set of hands to primary maintenance workers as necessary. Performs routine maintenance and repairs utilizing tools, materials or other necessary equipment to hasten repair work.

  • Perform general maintenance or grounds keeping duties.

  • Operate and maintain mechanical equipment, clean and repair machinery and equipment. Assist in locating, diagnosing and correcting maintenance related problems.

  • Monitor workers for clean assigned work areas by assuring sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, etc. is completed. Complete weekly inspections checklist of all restrooms, classrooms and other assigned areas for clean and sanitary presentation.

  • Exhibit teamwork, leading by example and actions. Collaborate with other departments routinely to identify, assist and eliminate functional, design and maintenance problems that interfere with the departments' ability to execute their functions in a safe and expedient manner.

  • On emergency call for extended hours or off-hour site presence to resolve immediate critical problems. Available for phone communications to convey special instructions to available on-site staff assisting as required for resolving critical problems.

  • Perform other tasks requested or assigned by manager or Executive Director.

A high school diploma or GED equivalent is required along with additional training in one or more skilled areas of plumbing, carpentry, electrical, HVAC. Five years of demonstrated work experience in a maintenance capacity that includes at least two years of supervision. Must have and maintain a valid Ohio driver's license. Some local travel between sites. Basic computer skills. Ability to diagnostic and trouble shoot building and grounds equipment and systems. Blueprint and schematic reading and interpretation desired. Effective use of written and oral communication skills is essential with strong organizational skills.
