Reporting to the Vice President, Corporate Strategic Development and Project Execution, the Business Development Lead role serves as a focal point within Williams for major business development initiatives such as M&A, divestitures and JV’s.  This position will be responsible for providing updates to executive leadership regarding the initiative. Will also be responsible for coordinating technical, economic, regulatory, and legal matters evaluation of the initiative. Contribute to an overall business development vision and strategy.


Responsibilities and Activities:

  • Oversee and direct the execution of initiatives
  • Work cross-functionally with deal teams to originate and bring projects to close
  • Identify, assess and communicate risks associated with business development opportunities
  • Identify, assess and communicate value associated with business development opportunities
  • Cultivate relationships and act as central focal point for interaction between the Williams team and counterparties
  • Effectively communicate an assessment of the opportunity and potential risks
  • Drive to the completion of all required project deliverables
  • Participate in the due diligence process


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of industry experience
  • Proven project management skills
  • Proven experience in analyzing financial statements
  • Knowledge of commercial contracts
  • Comfortable in negotiating situations


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree; preference in Business related field, Law, Engineering or investment banking experience


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing at multiple levels of the organization including the executive level, as well as with external counterparties
  • Negotiation skills, should operate effectively in negotiation situations and appropriately represent the company
  • Ability to bring negotiations to a close
  • Energy and passion to lead a team of cross functional professional in transaction assessment, negotiations, closing and implementation; ability to influence without formal authority
  • Create thinker with intellectual firepower to find suitable commercial solutions to complex matters with significant impact to the organization
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple work streams with attention to detail while effectively dealing with a lot of ambiguity
  • Ability to travel as needed
