Summary and Purpose

Our organization is seeking a highly qualified Operations Technician III (Measurement) to be a member of our MONAHANS, KERMIT, or PECOS Texas team. Reporting to the Manager of Operations, the primary purpose of the Technician is to be responsible for the safe operations, maintenance, calibration, measurement, and instrumentation of all equipment and assets.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of Gas Measurement associated with the following: day-to-day upkeep and calibration of analytical sampling, and  measurement and telemetry equipment
  • Work after hours and on-call rotation schedule as needed. This may require some nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Responsible for the safe installation, operations, maintenance,  calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of analytical, measurement, communication, and instrumentation and controls equipment
  • Assist in the training and  development of Measurement procedures and standards
  • Schedule the collection of measurement data on a monthly basis (electronic and dry flow chart recorder data)
  • Support and troubleshoot the monthly gathering system balancing reviews of assigned geographical area.
  • Install, operate, maintain, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair meters and EFM’s on wellheads, pad levels, and custody transfer orifice and ultrasonic meters.
  • Schedule witnessing of Custody Delivery Point Meter Calibration, Inspection, and Sampling. 
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, programming, and maintenance on assigned equipment.
  • Willingness to mentor and assist in the development of peers, special projects, and facility design considerations.
  • Communicate company safety expectations to customers, contractors, and general public
  • Plan maintenance and troubleshooting activities for the gas plant and/or associated production and pipeline facilities
  • Install new measurement and analytical equipment necessary to accommodate field and plant operations
  • Program, calibrate, and repair various pneumatic and electronic instruments related to measurement, PID Loops, and control systems  
  • Audit vendors to meet company specifications; routinely monitor services provided by third party vendors to maintain company PSM and Pipeline Safety standards
  • Develops and/or maintains spreadsheets, EFM programs, and other electronic files including calibration and testing software, remote communications software, measurement data files, and work planning/documentation files. 
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, NEC/NFPA Codes, and company measurement procedures  
  • Respond to call-outs during evenings, weekends, and holidays.


Minimum Qualifications

(Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities)

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of five (5) years Measurement experience within the oil and gas industry
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience of with the troubleshooting and repair of electrical, electronic, instrumentation, controls, and pneumatic equipment, and concepts including 4-20 mA signals and AC and DC circuits.
  • Ability to wear safety gear, protective equipment, gloves, uniforms, and other articles of safety clothing or gear as required by OSHA,DOT, or other regulatory agencies. 
  • Demonstrates an intermediate knowledge of general computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), but has the willingness and ability to learn company specific programs
  • Ability to work after hours, on-call rotations, which may require some nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to work in both a team setting and individually with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to demonstrate excellent communications skills by providing detailed technical information to supervisors, co-workers, and outside parties by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Ability to interface with measurement function software systems, run reports and interpret reports to support intermediate  and more advanced measurement support duties.
  • Demonstrate the ability to train and mentor others.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Measurement experience within the industry is preferred, but not required.
  • Two-year Associates or Technical degree in Instrumentation, Electrical, or related field.  
  • Seven (years) Measurement experience within the oil and gas industry


Physical Requirements and Environmental Working Conditions:

  • Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with Williams and other federal, state, and local regulatory agencies
  • Must be able to work in extreme temperatures due to weather conditions and operating equipment
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record
  • Must be able to use physical force to lift, push, pull, and hold equipment and tools
  • Ability to work indoor and outdoor in and/or around industrial and electrical equipment
  • Must be able to regularly bend, stoop, move from ground level to high levels, raise/lift from ground level and lift up to 50lbs
  • Must wear safety equipment while working, and must be able to lift and put on emergency apparatus and/or protective equipment when needed 
  • Ability to climb and work at various heights, as well as, work in a standing, sitting, lying down, crouched or kneeling position
  • Ability to work in confined spaces (i.e. tanks, between compressors, vessels, etc.)
