Contract -- Public Relations Manager

About the Team

The Public Relations team is responsible for developing and executing the brands' public relations and influencer marketing initiatives.

About the Role

The Public Relations Manager is responsible for the development, implementation and ongoing management of the Pottery Barn Kids and PBteen brands' public relations programs to achieve results.

As an ideal candidate, you are an outstanding communicator with experience as a company/brand spokesperson with established media relations skills including proven relationships with top-level media contacts. You can build effective relationships with internal and external partners, and you have general marketing and social media expertise in the retail sector.

In this role, you will work within an entrepreneurial environment and partner with cross-functional teams (including: merchandising; product development; retail; e-commerce; creative services; brand marketing; social media; finance; legal; customer service) to create and execute the brands' media relations and influencer marketing programs.

* Partner with Director of PR/Brand Marketing on the creation of yearly, seasonal and special initiative PR plans that strategically align to the brand's initiatives.
* Partner with the Director of PR/Brand Marketing to drive brands' influencer marketing initiatives including product collaborations and strategic partnerships.
* Secure media coverage and product placement in newspapers, magazines, broadcast outlets and blogs.
* Oversee the creation of press previews and events and distribute materials to the media on a timely basis each season (spring, summer, fall, holiday) and for product collaborations and partnerships.
* Oversee and execute as needed incoming media inquiries including product loans and image requests for approved media outlets.
* Write and distribute company press releases for Pottery Barn Kids and PBteen.
* Foster good relationships with national and regional media and influencers, specifically in shelter, parenting and lifestyle categories.
* Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results to executives and cross-channel partners on a weekly and quarterly basis.
* Create year-end reporting to benchmark results to LY.
* Act as company spokesperson for media opportunities.
* Work closely with cross-channel partners including designers, buyers, store operations, online, email, social, creative and retail store teams as part of global approach to product and/or concept launches.
* Partner with Director of PR/Brand Marketing to onboard and provide ongoing strategic direction to Global PR partners.
* Evaluate opportunities for partnerships and sponsorships on an on-going basis.
* Partner with Director of PR/Brand Marketing on budgets and budget creation, management, and forecasting.
* Partner with Director of PR/Brand Marketing to oversee crisis communication and any other elevated issues on an as-needed basis.

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

* You have 6+ years experience, preferably with both agency and in-house teams.
* Proven ability to advise internal partners on communications strategy aligned to business objectives.
* Experience working closely with executive management team.
* Strong consumer media relations skills with proven program results in print, broadcast and online outlets.
* Superior writing and editing skills.
* Ability to act as company spokesperson; comfortable and skilled in both broadcast and print media interviews.
* Experience working with external partners on design collaborations, partnerships and strategic marketing initiatives.
* Strong interpersonal skills and ability to present and promote concepts with cross-channel partners.
* Ability to recommend and initiate projects with minimal direction.
* Small and large-scale event planning experience.
* Experience booking and coordinating press tours.
* Creative, strategic and analytical thinking skills.
* Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
* Exceptional initiative and follow-through skills.

Technical Competencies required:

* Experience with CisionPoint Media Services and/or other proprietary media contact software.
* Bachelor's Degree
