Position Summary

The Editorial Manager defines the brand voice for all marketing communications for PB Kids and Teen including online, catalog and store collateral. Responsible for all creative editorial/tagline development and writing--ensuring that message supports the brand objectives for the season. Write upper-level creative copy for all brand communications including catalog/online editorial, direct marketing pieces, headlines/editorial within store collateral, and other projects as needed. Interact with merchants, creative services, visual and e-commerce to ensure that voice and marketing messages are consistent across all channels and align with overall brand strategy.


* Define and communicate brand voice to constituents across Pottery Barn Kids & Teen
* Write all editorial, headlines and taglines for marketing communications including catalog, direct marketing pieces, e-commerce and special projects
* Work with Senior Creative VP to ensure all editorial copy, headlines, taglines and home page content are inspirational, compelling and accurate
* Work with Creative Concept Director and Editorial Team to establish needs for each season.
* Ensure tone, message and writing are on-brand for every campaign
* Supervise team freelance copywriters if needed
* Identify and cultivate talent pool of freelance copywriters and editors
* Track revisions, manage and obtain approvals for all writing assignments
* Maintain the highest editorial standards for all copy and ensure that it conforms to the brands' style guide and the evolving brand voice. Drive the brands forward with a fresh and approachable voice.
* Ability to think conceptually, ensuring creative tone/voice support the brand voice and key objectives of the season--and are appropriate for the communication vehicle
* Strong ability to influence others to ensure copy and voice align with strategy
* Have a creative, assertive professional personality and be a competent researcher--comfortable asking questions and seeking answers
* Self-starter, excels in extremely fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
* Excellent organization and prioritization skills, ability to handle multiple projects across several seasons/packets/channels
* Experience working with all levels of business partners
* Teamwork, project management skills and creativity a must
* Possess a creative, positive and flexible attitude


* 4-year Bachelor's degree in English or Advertising required
* 7+ years experience in copywriter/copy lead role is required
* Interest in interior design and decorating preferred
* Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style and AP style
* Prior experience working on highly-recognized, industry-leading brands a plus
* Proficiency with Macintosh operating system and Microsoft Office
