Position Summary


In partnership with US visual merchandising and global merchandising, set the retail visual and marketing direction for the global business of the Pottery Barn brands. This role is accountable for both company-owned and franchise stores. Work with U.S. Visual Merchandising department, stores organization and franchise partners to ensure visual strategy enhances the brand image, sales and profits for each store by market. Work with store team to provide visual direction, inspiring creativity and teamwork to ensure our stores have dynamic and whimsical visual representations, which uniquely reflect the brand.

Specific Responsibilities

* Provide creative direction in partnership with U.S. Visual teams for the global stores by season.

Responsibilities include:

* Adapt brand maps to reflect market relevancy by store.

* Manage/ Update each store map, including hardware, bays and location of lifestyles within the store
* Create additional on-the-spot presentations to fill gaps or enhance overall visual image in the store
* Develop a balance of visual displays that appeal to the local markets
* Create seasonal visual direction for stores:

* Plan and organize all floor sets
* Attend all floor-sets
* Establish a style guide, indicating where items will be placed and identify replacement items for out of stock items
* Ensure signage and selling collateral is current and placed as directed
* Participate in developing new, creative decorating moments
* Foster an "all hands on deck" collaborative work style to accomplish all needs of store visual
* Develop and manage all communication to stores:

* Work closely with brand visual team to translate and communicate direction to store teams as weekly mark-downs, floor sets and signage changes take place
* Create field updates around discussion in Monday morning business meetings, hot topics and other changes in direction
* Partner with Store Ops. to ensure field direction/changes is accurate and timely
* Partner with all brands in the US to determine signage and key marketing strategies for all floor sets, new store openings and in-store events:Partner with store design to determine layouts for new stores and supplies/ props needed for openings

* Develop subject matter expertise on product display, signage and packaging to meet local standards:
* Understand product legislation in each country to ensure product displayed is compliant
* Research and procure in-country vendor resources to utilize for signage & packaging, building partnerships for needs not delivered by U.S. Visual teams

* Lead a team:

* Responsible for coaching, developing and managing the Visual Coordinator
* Manage day to day operations:

* Prepare forecasts and execute against budget; manage invoices from vendors
* Allocate expenses for travel


* 10 + years progressive experience in visual merchandising with multi-store responsibility
* Experience managing others and leading a team
* Ability to travel to global locations 40% - 50%

- BS/BA required in design, art or related degree


* Photoshop, Illustrator, Quark, In-design, Excel, Microsoft Suite
* Stay current on professional practices and trends
* Ability to work independently and as a team
* Ability to set realistic short- and long-term goals Ability to write and speak effectively

* Ability to be mobile when setting up store floor set for extended periods of time.
* Ability to lift and mobilize medium to large items, up to 75 lbs., while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques
