Position Summary

Williams-Sonoma, Inc. is looking for an ideal candidate to fill our Staff Accountant II position based out of our headquarters in San Francisco, California. The Staff Accountant will: support the SEC reporting function, support the planning and completion of the consolidated external audit and statutory reporting requirements, perform various accounting journal entries and duties in support of month-end close, perform technical accounting research and analysis, support the implementation of new accounting standards, and perform other tasks and ad-hoc projects as necessary.

Specific Responsibilities

This position is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

* Prepare journal entries and accruals for assigned accounts within required timeframes.
* Prepare month-end variance analyses and account reconciliations for assigned income statement and balance sheet accounts.
* Assist with analyzing, summarizing and communicating results to management.
* Support the 10-Q and 10-K reporting process.
* Assist with technical accounting and disclosure research and documentation for review by management and external auditors.
* Support the Company's implementation of new accounting standards as needed.
* Coordinate providing quarterly and annual audit support to external auditors for consolidated and statutory audits.
* Coordinate providing interim and annual support to the internal audit team in support of the Company's SOX compliance testing.
* Ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures and update documentation as necessary.
* Streamline existing processes to improve efficiency.
* Support manager to complete ad-hoc projects as assigned.



* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
* 2+ year's experience in public accounting; industry accounting with direct SEC Reporting experience may be acceptable depending on candidate and tenure
* Strong attention to detail with an ability to efficiently provide high-quality work
* Demonstration of organizational and planning skills with an ability to manage multiple priorities within tight deadlines
* Ability to communicate openly and collaborate with accounting and finance counterparts
* Accountable and able to work independently to achieve deadlines
* Proficient with Excel
* Extended hours during close week as well as quarter/ year-end will be required
