Assistant Planner, Special Orders -- West Elm

The Assistant Planner will report into the SPO Planner in the Inventory Management department.This role supports the Special Order (SPO) Upholstery business for the Brand, a $50M business. The SPO Assistant Planner is responsible for analyzing and reporting Demand Sales, working closely with all SPO vendors to ensure fabric and frame inventory levels are optimal, and following through with customer care issues. We are seeking to maximize SPO sales by offering a larger assortment of customizable upholstery at a shorter lead time, and at lower costs. In this role, the Assistant Planner will learn how to analyze and report on sales, as well as forecast demand for the SPO business. This position works closely with vendors, Merchandising, Ecomm, and Sourcing.

Essential Functions:
Demand Sales Reporting:
* Actualize and publish SPO Demand Sales Recap every Monday for business review meetings
* Identify SPO trends, SPO to Stock relationship and top and low performing collections and fabrics; Use data to suggest new frames and colors to stock/drop

SKU Maintenance:
* Maintain over 50,000 SKUs making sure all are correctly set up in systems
* Work with the Ecommerce and Merchandising team weekly and at the start of each season to ensure all SPO SKUs are set up with Special Order lead time on the web

Rolling 6 Month Demand Projections to Vendors:
* Actualize monthly sales/units/yardage consumption for all collections and fabrics
* Reforecast 6-month fabric/component need and determine initial purchase quantities for new items added to the assortment

Fabric Inventory Management:
* Monitor inventory of all SPO fabrics by vendor on a weekly basis
* Weekly call with each vendor to review any deficits and facilitate transfers of fabric between vendors, recommend fabric order placement to vendors, identify potential delays to customers
* Proactively work with sourcing to place fabric commitments in anticipation of promotions, CNY, summits, etc

Customer Order Management/Vendor Shipping:
* Analyze Aged Report measuring shipping performance by vendors to identify issues with any frame or fabric holding up customer orders; Steers conversation with vendors and sourcing for component and fabric need
* Work with customer service call center to resolve special order related issues and delays; Assistant Planner is the go-to person for call center

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Qualifications:
* Bachelors degree in relevant field
* 1-2 years experience in planning or allocations
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to learn in a fast paced, team-oriented environment
* Strong analytical skills, proficient in excel and other planning systems including Microstrategy, understanding of retail math and other fundamental planning skills
