Distribution Planner -- West Elm

The distribution planner is responsible for ensuring the right product gets to the right stores at the right time. Their analytics and reporting is also crucial to helping identify opportunities to increase/decrease future buys and develop plans to ensure profitability and margin plans are achieved. The distribution planner supports the inventory management department by providing recommendations for initial store buys and recommendations for flow. He or she also reviews sales and inventory at a micro level to determine location/region specific opportunities for merchandising.

Essential Functions:
* Utilize and control the store allocation systems.
* Ensure stores maintain appropriate in-stock, service levels, and weeks on hand objectives.
* Set up appropriate system parameters, profiles, safety stocks, display minimums, etc., to achieve store/item in stock goals and objectives. Manage allocation system to rate of sale.
* Set-up and maintenance of the allocation system to ensure timely processing of new, current, and discontinued merchandise.
* Plan and execute allocation strategies to support Visual floor sets, New Store and Brand expansion.
* Understanding of a multi channel brand
* Support specialized store assortments (warm weather, Flagship, bay variations, special purchase or store needs).
* Resolve allocation issues and follow-up with the field as needed.
* Track receipts to support in-season allocation strategies. Daily communication with the Distribution Centers to prioritize receipts for Visual floor sets, New Season floor sets, New Store and Brand expansion.
* Strong Analytical Skills to further support departments sales and service level goals.
* Excel and Microsoft suite
* Attention to detail and understanding of complex retail fleet
* Store opening experience

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Requirements & Qualifications:
* 2-4 years demand planning/ allocation relevant work experience
* Store opening or store planning experience preferred
* Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
* Thorough understanding of retail math
* Understanding of retail supply chain
* Proficient in Excel
* College degree preferred
