Assistant Manager, Visual Merchandising -- West Elm

The Visual Merchandising department is responsible for the creative vision for our Retail stores. We take our design team's inspiration, merchant's big ideas and create a cohesive visual experience. We work closely with our catalog and ecommerce teams. We work across cross-functional teams to creatively interpret business strategies and ensure a consistent brand message across our diverse field organization, ecommerce and catalog. We provide support to PR, Marketing, and new initiatives.

This position is responsible for the visual merchandising of decorative accessories and textiles assortment. You will be working closely with merchants to understand the key messages for each season and creating visually appealing displays for our retail stores. You will collect business results and interpret various data points to provide creative solutions. You will partner with our team to create the overall vision and feel for retail. We collaborate by sharing design, fashion, and styling ideas and inspiration to continually stay on trend. You will connect with our field visual organization through conference calls and meetings, sharing insight and information weekly.

Essential Functions:
* Partner with Dec. Accessories and Textile Merchants, planners and allocations teams to create cohesive and thoughtful visual merchandising strategy for our stores.
* Acts as a business partner to Dec Acc. And Textiles merchant teams during and after seasonal floor sets. Identifies merchandising updates based on business results and assortment strategies.
* Communicates seasonal promotional strategies to stores and assist in the creation of visual set up, marketing and collateral support.
* Contributes ideation for the overall seasonal store environment and experience by providing new and innovative ideas of display, merchandising, props and styling.
* Assists in the mapping and planning of product placement and merchandising of show backs and visual floor sets.
* Review assortment and tiering strategy; identify solutions across store types.
* Assesses and impacts each shop structure and allocation of space to maximize business
* Participate in seasonal presentation workshops, meetings and conference calls with field teams.
* Contribute to field visual team training and seasonal feedback to support development of teams
* Solicits feedback from field visual teams to provide insight for merchant, planning and allocation teams
* Facilitates the sharing of inspiration and idea generation
* Partners with all functions of visual merchandising department to support a cohesive visual strategy
* Provides thoughtful and educational feedback to field visual teams

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS

* Acts as a brand ambassador reflective of the company values and aesthetic
* Has a strong understanding of trend and style that is reflective of the brand
* Some travel required
* Minimum 3 years in store experience
* *Ability to lift and mobilize medium to large items, up to 75 lbs., while utilizing appropriate equipment and safety techniques*
