Position Type: Full-time

Multichannel Solutions Architect, Williams-Sonoma

Founded in 1956, Williams-Sonoma, Inc. (WSI) is the premier specialty retailer of high-quality products for the kitchen and home in the United States. Our family of brands are Williams-Sonoma, Pottery Barn, Pottery Barn Kids, PBteen, West Elm, Williams-Sonoma Home, Rejuvenation, and Mark and Graham. These brands are among the best known and most respected in the industry. We offer beautifully-designed, stylish and functional products for every area of the home, including the kitchen, living room, bedroom, home office, closet, laundry room and even outdoor spaces. We've seen some big changes since our first brick-and-mortar store opened more than half of a century ago. What hasn't changed is our passion for high-quality products, functional design, outstanding customer service, and enhancing the lives of our customers and the communities where we operate. Today, we're a multi-brand, multichannel, global enterprise supported by state-of-the-art technology and some of the most talented teams in retailing - and we're always looking for new people, energy, and ideas.

The Multichannel Solutions Architect is responsible for overseeing the build of a new multichannel selling platform, which includes elements of the online, physical, and mobile stores. The role will work closely with the technical teams from several functional areas, including retail and ecommerce operations partners, to develop and implement our technical roadmap and strategy. You will play a hands-on role in the application of technologies and processes from proof-of-concept and reference implementations through to production systems. You will also play a key role in building something that will radically change our customer and store associate experience, and be focused on balancing the long-term architectural perspective with getting things done.

The ideal candidate possesses exceptional technical design and analysis skills, and the ability to effectively communicate with others across all levels of the organization. A person who can form, express and defend a reasoned point of view and collaborate with others to reach the best solutions. Experience architecting medium to large initiatives is a must, as is a well-rounded technical background and understanding of current customer technologies and trends. You must be able to thrive and succeed in an entrepreneurial environment, and not be hindered by ambiguity or multiple competing priorities. This means you are not only able to develop and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but can also roll up your sleeves and help get complex initiatives across the finish line.

Duties & Responsibilities:

* Articulate a clear vision for how WSI can stabilize and expand the current multichannel technologies, automate redundant tasks, and provide innovative customer and business associate experiences for the future.
* Unify the business community, store systems, and ecommerce teams to provide technical and user experience solutions to meet customer and business needs.
* Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, weigh/make tradeoffs, and balance the customer/business needs versus technical/operational desires and constraints.
* Take large, complex initiatives and break them down into manageable pieces for the team.
* Resolves a wide range of technical issues in innovative and practical ways.
* Involve critical internal and external resources for subject matter expertise across a diverse scope using analysis of data as a basis for evaluation.

A results oriented individual who has succeeded in delivering products/services in a high growth environment where priorities evolve quickly. A strong technologist who can prioritize well, communicate clearly and compellingly, and who understands how to drive a high level of focus and excellence within a strong, talented, and opinionated team.

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field of work
* 10+ years of experience in the development, implementation, and maintenance of business critical systems
* Demonstrated competency designing systems and/or processes that provide efficient, effective solutions to diverse, complex problems
* Proven track record of shaping technical strategy for business critical systems
* Strong object-oriented design and development skills (C#, Java)
* Strong knowledge of security and cryptography (PKI, Hashing, SSL, Encryption) and the compliance landscape for retail (PCI)
* Familiarity with Microsoft technologies and frameworks (.NET, Windows, Dynamics, SharePoint)
* Familiarity with Java technologies and frameworks (JavaEE, Spring)
* Familiarity with internet technologies (TCP/IP, HTTP, HTML, CSS, XML, SMTP, JavaScript)
* Familiarity with mobile devices and application development technologies (iOS, Android)
* Experience with web information architecture, including REST architectural principles
* Experience with Customer facing applications and/or support services
* Customer focused with high quality standards and analytical skills
* Expert knowledge of architectural best practices and design
* Demonstrated expertise in problem solving and technical innovation
* Excellent judgment and a high level of integrity
* Expect and require innovation of your team
