Job Description

Wilkes University invites applications for two full time visiting faculty positions in Physics for the academic year 2019-20. The Department of Electrical Engineering and Physics is housed within the College of Science and Engineering and offers two undergraduate programs in Electrical Engineering, and Physics. In addition, it offers two M.S. degree programs in Electrical Engineering and Bioengineering. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Physics or affiliated field and demonstrate a strong evidence for excellence in teaching physics at the undergraduate level.

Applicants should be proficient in English with excellent oral and written communication skills necessary to work cooperatively and effectively with a diverse groups of students, staff and faculty in the department. Wilkes is a primarily teaching academic institution, the candidate must show sincere commitment to undergraduate instruction in Physics, and understanding of the student mentorship culture.

Teaching responsibilities include teaching undergraduate physics courses at the freshman/sophomore level such as calculus-based and non-calculus based two semester general physics course sequences as well as modern physics at the junior/senior level. These courses will include both laboratories and lectures/recitations.

Faculty members in the department pursue a broad research agenda that spans traditional areas and emerging interdisciplinary investigations in microfabrication and nanofabrication, semiconductors and solid state physics, biophysics, computational physics, communication systems, biomedical engineering, controls and mechatronics.
