Job Function: Product Development Engineering (40000045) 



Responsible for the engineering resources that maintain and/or procure all process equipment and related documentation for the assembly and finish areas in the manufacturing plant.  This includes:  Equipment drawings, tool drawings, PFMEA's (process failure model effects analysis), control plans, and software/equipment back-up programs, etc.   Drive kaizen/projects in areas of waste defined through CD (cost deployment). (30%)


Train, coach, and support the deployment of sophisticated WPS tools on more complex problems (e.g. major and advanced projects utilizing statistical methods to reduce variation).  Direct Engineering staff in reducing variation associated with equipment life,  cost, and other improvements in assigned business unit of responsibility. Provide process/mechanical support to the business unit assigned which includes, but is not limited to: Process parameter standardization and monitoring, in-process tolerance, cycle time management, etc. Drive and support the cultural change required within the assigned work team to ensure successful implementation of WPS. (30%)


Responsible for development and forecast of department budget.(10%)


Responsible for tracking Key Activity Indicators and Key Performance Indicators for the department and areas of responsibility.(10%)


This position interfaces with the Category Business Team and key trade partners (Lowes; Home Depot; Sears;...) as well as coordinating special requests and minor model line changes from the customer and/or product engineering.(20%)



Function Overview

The Assembly and Finishing Manager is responsible for ensuring the uninterrupted operation of the Assembly and Finishing equipment while achieving the highest level of safety, quality, up-time, and waste elimination through well-established quality maintenance programs and deployment of advanced WPS tools. The  Assembly and Finishing Manager will offer hands on trouble-shooting support to the assigned Technical Engineers ensuring OEE (overall equipment effectiveness)/Assembly Yield/First Pass Yield of process equipment including the improvement of MTBF (mean time between faults) and reduction in MTTR (mean time to repair).


What You Need To Succeed

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required. Master’s Degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 7 years of manufacturing experience, process development, and/or project management experience preferred
