Job Description

The Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at West Virginia University invites applications for tenure-track positions at the rank of Associate or Full Professor depending upon qualifications. Candidates must have research expertise in one or both of the following areas (1) process systems engineering focused on materials processing (including polymeric materials and/or biomaterials) and development of synthetic sustainable materials (2) solid oxide fuel cells, electrolyzers, and electrochemical treatment and remediation of waste water streams.

Eligible candidates must have a PhD in chemical engineering or a related engineering discipline and at least 5 years of postdoctoral experience in academia. Candidates must also have demonstrated the ability to (1) teach a variety of courses at both the undergraduate and graduate levels within the Department, (2) develop and sustain an externally funded research program leading to national and international recognition, support and mentor graduate and undergraduate students, postdoctoral fellows and other research personnel, publish peer-reviewed papers, make presentations at national meetings and collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams of faculty and other researchers within the department, college, and university and (3) perform service activities commensurate with the position and become a collegial faculty member. Candidates for the rank of full Professor must have an outstanding and demonstrated record of teaching, research and service.
