Job Description

The Department of Institutional Accounting, Reporting & Analysis within the Division of Finance at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Temporary Corporate Accountant. The incumbent will perform specialized and complex accounting assignments to support specialized areas of accounting and financial management at the institutional level such as financial analysis and internal and external reporting.

In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:

* Maintain the chart of accounts in the general ledger, including assignment of complex accounting rollups and accounting attributes.

* Assign attributes used to interface to and from wvOASIS, the State's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system.

* Upload journal entries into the general ledger module using a spreadsheet-based extension/interface.

* Assist with preparation of the University's financial statements including research related to various transactions and preparing basic journal entries and reconciliations.

* Assist with gathering documentation requested by external auditors.

* Other duties as assigned.

Pay Grade: 18

* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting is required.
* Three (3) years of experience in financial operations of a complex organization.
* Licensure as a Certified Public Accountant is preferred, but not required.
* Knowledge of fund accounting procedures and policies.
* Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
* Demonstrated ability to reason logically, analyze and solve complex issues or problems and to follow complex written or oral instructions.
* Prior experience with Oracle financial software is desirable.
* Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer with a working knowledge of word processors, spreadsheets and database application software.
