Job Description

WellSpan York Hospital Acute Care & York Outpatient patient populations

Flexible schedule

For Outpatient: 2 evenings per week until 7pm

PRN 2nd position: coverage for weekends (3 days/quarter minimum)

No holidays

General Summary:

Under general supervision, provides occupational therapy services at an beginner to intermediate level to individual patients according to the principles and practices of occupational therapy. Directs patient participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce and enhance performance; facilitates the learning of those skills and functions essential for adaptation and productivity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1 Evaluates patient using evidence based evaluation techniques.

2 Plans individualized occupational therapy program with a variety of sensorimotor, educational, recreational and social activities based on the individuals physical capacity, intelligence level, and interests/goals.

3 Provides instructions in therapeutic procedures to be continued by the patient.

4 Coordinates occupational therapy activities in collaboration with the other members of the interdisciplinary team to facilitate achievement of goals established.

5 Conducts or participates in training medical and nursing personnel in occupational therapy techniques and objectives.

6 Utilizes safe patient handling techniques for all patient transfers, lifts and positioning.

7 Provides supervision of COTAs and Rehab Aides as required by PA practice act.

8 Participates in mentoring of fellow staff and students as defined by clinical ladder.

9 Performs additional administrative duties as assigned, including, but not limited to, orientation, competency training, participation in peer/performance reviews and in-services.

Required Skills

Licensed as an OT in Pennsylvania

CPR certification

Required Experience

Acute, hospital-based AND outpatient experience strongly preferred

Must have at least one year experience in order to be considered for an interview
