Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. Our nine major business lines include Business Banking, Middle Market Banking, Government and Institutional Banking, Corporate Banking, Commercial Real Estate, Financial Institutions Group, Wells Fargo Commercial Capital, Wells Fargo Securities, and the Investment Portfolio. Wells Fargo's Small Business Administration (SBA) Lending is currently seeking a Credit Analyst 1 in our San Jose, CA hub. SBA Lending is part of the Specialized Industries Group within Commercial Banking. As a whole, SBA is responsible for the production, management and servicing of a $10B+ portfolio of government guaranteed SBA 7(A) loans and 504 real estate loans.

This will be an entry-level position that is responsible for assisting Underwriters with new SBA loan requests while learning the division's underwriter role. In this analyst role, will become proficient in SBA products, policies, procedures and gain the financial and credit foundation to grow within our SBA team.

The ideal candidate will be a team player who enjoys supporting and achieving team goals.

Responsibilities include:

* Conducting routine credit research on companies and industries
* Gathering and reviewing routine credit information for SBA loans
* Ordering and reviewing credit reports
* Ordering appraisals and other third party reports
* Monitoring documentation exceptions
* Responding to customer inquiries
* Ensuring credit files are complete
* Ensuring financial statements are current
* Generating status reports for management/bankers
* Contacting available sources of information
* Creating and updating credit jobs in various systems/databases

Team members support our focus on building strong customer relationships balanced with a strong risk mitigating and compliance-driven culture which firmly establishes those disciplines as critical to the success of our customers and company. They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following and adhering to applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit's risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements.

Required Qualifications

* 6+ months of financial analysis experience

* Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
* Good analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to execute in a fast paced, high demand, environment while balancing multiple priorities
* A BS/BA degree or higher in accounting, finance, or economics
* Ability to interact with integrity and a high level of professionalism with all levels of team members and management
* Ability to take on a high level of responsibility, initiative, and accountability
* Knowledge and understanding of Small Business Administration (SBA) Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Policies
* Knowledge and understanding of loan administration or servicing commercial loan documentation
