Job Description

What is my job: 

The job of the Entry-level Recruiter is to recruit and hire the best external Customer Service candidates for employment by utilizing the applicant tracking system and following hiring the best preferred practices.

 

How do I make a difference? 

Providing Incredible, Knowledge Based Service

  • Collaborate with the Recruiters, Staffing Coordinator, HR Manager and Hiring Managers to ensure hiring the best preferred practices are being followed; continuously look for opportunities to improve system and make recommendations when appropriate
  • Work cooperatively with all members of the staffing team to implement staffing plans and activities
  • Work with Hiring Manager to assess actual needs; utilize data, forecasting and other tools to verify staffing needs
  • Collaborate with the staffing team to evaluate recruitment and selection process; recommend revisions when necessary

  • Establish and maintain relationships with hiring managers to stay abreast of current and future hiring and business needs
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and Affirmative action guidelines and laws (such as Title VII, Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act of 2008, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, etc)
  • Advise business partners on staffing policies and procedures
  • Manage and coordinate all communication, scheduling and logistics between hiring manager and candidates; provide incredible service by communicating to applicants in a timely manner throughout the hiring process
  • Handle the administrative components involved in the sourcing, selection, offer presentation, negotiating and closing for Customer Service positions
  • Maintain accurate and well documented files on all candidates; including legible, thorough interview notes to ensure a fair and compliant recruitment process
  • Utilize the applicant tracking system (ATS) to efficiently screen candidates to identify those who match the Wegmans values as well as the criteria for the open position
  • Proactively mine the ATS’s requisitions for candidates who could add value to the organization; screening for values, skills and availability match
  • Perform searches for qualified candidates according to relevant job criteria
  • Administer the technical process of setting up requisitions in the ATS
  • Review resumes and credentials for appropriateness of skills, experience and knowledge in relation to the position; verify certification or other criteria
  • Conduct interviews for both Part-time and Full-time External Customer Service
  • Effectively utilize interview guides, behavioral based questions and interview techniques; probe when necessary to assess for values, skill and availability match for position
  • Interview Part-time and Full-time External Customer Service, including face-to-face behavioral based interviewing; pass appropriate candidates on to hiring manager and HR representative
  • Offer recommendations to the hiring manager for candidate selection

What skills, learnings, and experiences are required?

  • 1 or more  years of recruiting and/or sourcing experience ideally in a high volume, retail environment
  • Proficient computer skills (MS Office Suite, ability to learn new systems including Applicant Tracking System)
  • Possess strong listening skills and hear many points of view without bias, asking clarifying questions to check for understanding
  • Use available resources to pursue goals and challenges with the intent of achieving results, striving for continued excellence and taking appropriate risks (Managing the 5 Measures)
  • Effectively deal with ambiguity, handling risk and uncertainty with comfort, maintaining effectiveness in the face of change and acting on decisions without having the total picture
  • Coming up with new, unique ideas using creative thinking while making connections among previously unrelated notions
  • Cross-functional collaboration: initiate dialogue around different points-of-view to find a common ground; lead interdepartmental teams, facilitating organizational consensus and creating synergies to arrive at the best business outcome
  • Use multiple resources to analyze data for abnormal findings, further investigating where warranted and identifying cause-effect relationships impacting the data
  • Practice process improvement, implements positive change and continuously looks for ways to improve work processes; separate and combine tasks into an effective workflow by maximizing resources and providing assistance when needed and supervise output ensuring high standards and quality are achieved
  • Advise others within the organization, as well as external business partners, using relevant knowledge and skills to ensure that sound business decisions are made

What skills, learnings, and experiences are preferred and will set me apart?

 

  • Interviewing and/or Recruitment experience
  • Experience using TALEO or applicant tracking software and Lawson software
  • Associates Degree in Human Resources, Marketing, or related field
  • Use critical thinking to solve complex and difficult problems with effective solutions skillfully questioning multiple sources for answers, seeing the underlying and hidden problems and patterns beyond obvious symptoms to address root causes
  • Experience with project coordination, communicating goals and responsibilities to the team being sure to monitor performance against a project plan and effectively applying project controls. Include project stakeholders, team members, and subject matter experts in order to get things done
  • Experience with risk evaluation: proactively identifying areas of potential risk exposure, thoroughly analyzing the situation to ensure the financial investment of a solution makes sense and implementing cost-effective controls to mitigate risk

Work environment: 

  •  Work involves continuous interaction with co-workers in fast-paced environment
  • Work includes sitting for prolonged periods, along with repetitive hand and arm movements
  • Work requires frequent use of the telephone and computer
  • Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 1 – 5 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 10 pounds occasionally
