If you love the scents and sounds of brewing coffee and understand how important that morning cup is, there’s no better place for you to work than a Wegmans Coffee Shop. In the unique role of a Coffee Shop Team Leader, you’ll be given the opportunity to develop the skills and passions of a team of could-be coffee connoisseurs, introduce innovative flavor concoctions, and manage a small café within a larger store setting. You’ll share your passion and knowledge of the coffee industry to ensure customers have the freshest, most delicious blends available throughout the day – and receive it with the incredible service Wegmans prides itself on.

  • Providing incredibleservice by building rapport with employees and customers, remembering “regular” drink orders and conversing with customers while preparing orders
  • Using interviewing, performance and career tools to hire, manage and develop others, working with employees to set and achieve individual and department goals

  • Using knowledge of and passion for the industry to educate others about current and new products, making recommendations to meet a customer’s needs, and helping plan and prepare delicious beverages for daily enjoyment and special events

  • Following Wegmans core recipes to prepare drink orders with speed and accuracy

  • Merchandising products in innovative and eye-catching displays to increase customer awareness and promote sales in the department

  • Ensuring the department is well-stocked, properly staffed, and operating profitably through proper ordering and scheduling practices

  • Contributing to department profitability by controlling inventory levels and expenses such as payroll and shrink

  • Tracking daily shrink and coming up with ways to reduce waste with continuous improvement practicesin mind

  • Properly maintaining and operating all equipment and machinery in the department, including but not limited to, espresso machines, blenders, commercial coffee brewers and coffee pots while being mindful of safetyand foodsafetytechniques

  • Exhibit merchandising skills by attractively displaying products considering seasonality, cross-merchandising opportunities and corporate programs with the aim of educating and enticing customers
  • Assist with meal preparation and planning by providing customers with proper serving guidelines and recommending correct cooking techniques, helping to make great meals easy

What will set me apart from other candidates:


  • Supervisory/ managerial experience
  • Working knowledge of and a passion for coffee and the coffee industry including how coffee is grown, processed and roasted; differences between Specialty Coffee and Non- Specialty Coffee; knowledge of Fair Trade and/ or Organic coffee
  • Experience working in a coffee shop or kiosk environment
  • Working knowledge of tea

 Work environment: 


  • Work involves continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment
  • Typical motions include repetitive arm and hand movements, bending, reaching and frequent lifting
  • Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 1 – 10 pounds of product with the occasional need to lift a maximum of 35 pounds
  • Will spend time in cooler and working with hot equipment and products
  • May be exposed to various allergens
  • Will spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand without a break for up to 4 hours
