Seafood Assistant Manager

Job Posting: 04/11/2018 Job ID: R0006234 Location: Westwood, MA Address: Westwood, 169 University Ave Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older. Days Hours Req: Full time applicants will be required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and must be available Monday through Saturday throughout the year, including some holidays. Sundays are not required but will be paid at time and one half. Shifts vary based on department and typically include a variety of early mornings, afternoons and evenings for all employees. Schedule: Full-time

Customer (What We Believe)

Product (What We Do)

  • Maintain department appearance, product levels, and efficiency; use knowledge of product, trends, and seasonality to accurately forecast needs and adjust order
  • Oversee team; merchandise fresh seafood cases to showcase quality, monitor for freshness; highlight Best of Season, featured, and seasonal items to drive sales; understand perishability of product; work with Prepared Foods to utilize and reduce shrink
  • Oversee order deliveries, ensure product quality; take appropriate steps to resolve product concerns
  • Ensure team members are trained on proper cutting techniques to produce correct yield and minimize shrink

Results (What We Measure)

  • Perform essential tasks for efficient Seafood operations; orders, schedules, and manage payroll; relay pertinent information to Store Management; ensure efficient operations
  • Ensure proper use of equipment; ensure food & human safety, simplification, company policies and procedures are followed

Work Environment

  • Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, occasional heavy lifting, bending, and reaching, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment. Work involves exposure to various work environments, including cold and hot temperatures. The average weight range of items lifted is 5-20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
  • Work may include use of hand pallet jack, power pallet jack, power walkie-reach, scissors lift or WAV unit. Wegmans certification required for use of power equipment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting
  • Experience cutting fish
  • Experience utilizing a variety of cooking techniques
  • Managerial/ supervisory experience including delegating tasks to others

  • Passion and knowledge of seafood
