Senior Accounting Analyst

To analyze, develop and interpret financial data and to partner with Store and Merchandising teams to improve profitability of the Produce and Floral departments.

Results (What We Measure)

  • Actively support the Produce & Floral departments by providing financial analysis and reporting/interpreting results
  • Identify improvement areas and provide proactive recommendations to improve profitability; partner with Store and Merchandising teams to identify and implement action plans & measure success
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial analysis, reporting and interpretation of Meat and Bakery department results
  • Research, analyze and identify the causes of variances and recommend ways to improve profitability
  • Work closely with Store and Merchandising personnel to monitor gross profit and inventory opportunities
  • Integrate technology into existing processes to meet closing deadlines and improve workflow
  • Keep projects on schedule and communicate project statuses, challenges and recommend solutions to management

Work Environment

  • Work involves continuous interaction with co-workers in fast-paced environment

  • Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 1 - 5 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 10 pounds occasionally

 Required Skills
  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting/Finance
  • 3 or more years analytical experience with financial or gross profit data
  • 2 or more years of experience analyzing financial data and making recommendations based on interpretations and research
  • 2 or more years of accounting experience with the ability to influence cost structure and profitability
  • Experience with measuring profitability through contribution
  • Technical accounting knowledge to include experience with debits, credits, accruals and general ledger
  • Advanced PC Skills including proficiency with Microsoft Excel & macros
  • Advanced presentation skills, with comfort presenting to groups of varying size and level, and able to explain complex process & theory to an audience with limited technical knowledge

Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with Lawson GL
  • Familiarity with WISE, MORIS and Essbase
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Solid understanding of shrink and gross profit reporting and factors that influence results
