New Jersey Division Store Maintenance Manager

Job Posting: 10/16/2017 Job ID: 1708746 Location: , NJ Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older. Days Hours Req: This position will require flexible availability to support operations. It will also require occasional out of state travel to other divisions, as well as frequent travel between store locations in the New Jersey division. Schedule: Full-time

Under the general direction of Maintenance leadership, this role will be responsible for managing all store and facilities maintenance activities for the division.

  • Provide feedback on system-wide or store wide design and construction issues
  • Support stores, as a resource, with project requests, AR development, etc.; Ensure stores have tools needed to respond effectively in emergency situations and provide leadership and direction in these situations
  • Work through CIS to evaluate projects for programs, rearrangements, and major program equipment purchases
  • Participate in divisional planning sessions to set department goals; Keep all projects on schedule, communicate updates to Maintenance Leadership

Product (What We Do)

  • Oversee a maintenance team compiled of a Maintenance Coordinator and Skilled Trade team
  • Work with Maintenance Leadership to manage store and facilities maintenance activities for efficiency, safety compliancy and cost
  • Prioritize work of others based on strategic plan; Allocate resources appropriately
  • Provide direction, communication, and feedback to others to ensure integrated solutions

Results (What We Measure)

  • Participates in the process for contractor selections in division for refrigeration, HVAC, electrical, mechanical & plumbing work
  • Assist in overseeing all areas of the division’s Store Maintenance Operations; Ensure procedures are followed, and equipment is operating correctly; Ensure proper execution for seasonal programs (landscaping etc.)
  • Review and approve CIP's (Capital Improvement Plans) for refrigeration, HVAC electrical, mechanical & plumbing work; Develop capital improvement program for facilities work
  • Help develop budget for store general maintenance cost centers for assigned stores; Review and approve budgets for refrigeration, HVAC and electrical work


What skills, learnings, and experiences are required?


  • 10 or more years of commercial maintenance management experience/education including familiarity with preventative and predictive maintenance best practices
  • Degree in Refrigeration/HVAC, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Advanced operational knowledge of refrigeration, electricity and hydraulics, layout, and design techniques
  • Experience with budgeting and forecasting
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, and work effectively in a changing environment
  • Experience working with computers, including a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and able to learn new systems quickly
  • Actively communicate the company vision and values to all and ensure work is completed in line with the organization's priorities and goals (integrates Who We Are & What We Do)
  • Managing change by gaining a commitment to change using patience, two-way communication and developing a clear picture of the future while supporting our people through transitions and deep rooting the change in their areas
  • Conduct accurate cost benefit analysis in order to invest where most the value is added

Work environment:

  • Physical demands include walking, standing, repetitive hand and arm movements, as well as work in, on and around backrooms, roofs, and crawlspaces
  • Work generally involves continuous interactions with customers, contractors, store personnel, and co-workers in a fast-paced environment
  • Will be required to spend the majority of time sitting or standing without a break for up to 4 hours
