Food and Human Safety Coordinator

Days Hours Req: Ideal candidates have the availability to work 5 days per week, between the hours of 6am and 10pm, daily. Weekends required. Schedule: Full-time

The job of the Food and Human Safety Coordinator is to identify, educate, coach and provide training on food safety and human safety issues that may cause illness or injury to employees and customers. As Food and Human Safety Coordinator, you’ll suggest modifications to work processes, equipment, and the environment to reduce risk factors for our employees and customers, and ensures company policies and procedures are followed.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert; assist in development, design, delivery, and implementation of food & human safety training, education, and coaching

Product (What We Do)

  • Analyze and monitor incident, audit data, reports, workflow processes, equipment, and department layout to improve safety; assist in establishing goals
  • Complete special food & human safety projects and assignments as needed

Results (What We Measure)

  • Collaborate with Store and Division leadership, Corporate partners, and outside agencies (i.e. consultants and regulators) to establish best practices and recommendations for compliance with food & human safety, and injury prevention initiatives; champion necessary change
  • Measure results and take corrective action to address findings by corporate Food Safety, and Human Safety representatives
  • Ensure company policies, procedures, and programs are followed; meet or exceed OSHA standards, HACCP, and Good Retailing Practices; elevate and communicate concerns to appropriate party

Work Environment

  • Work includes repetitive hand and arm movements, lifting, standing and walking for up to 4 hours without a break, occasional bending, frequent reaching, moving and lifting, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment
  • The average weight range of items lifted is 5-12 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 40 pounds, occasionally
  • May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience as a Team Leader in Perishable or Culinary Store Operations
  • Experience leading safety initiatives or participating on safety committees
  • Experience with windows-based software includes Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc.)
  • Perishable or Culinary Store Operations experience
  • Wegmans Store Operations experience in a Team Leader level or higher
