Pizza Assistant Manager

Job Posting: 03/01/2018 Job ID: R0003471 Location: Chestnut Hill, MA Address: Chestnut Hill, 200 Boylston Street Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older. Days Hours Req: Full time applicants will be required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and must be available Monday through Saturday throughout the year, including some holidays. Sundays are not required but will be paid at time and one half. Shifts vary based on department and typically include a variety of early mornings, afternoons and evenings for all employees. Schedule: Full-time

This role develops the skills and passions of the Pizza team, and manages a full-service pizza shop within a larger store setting. They use passion and knowledge of the industry to ensure customers have access to the freshest most delicious pizzas, calzones and more – and receive it with the incredible customer service Wegmans prides itself on.

    Product (What We Do)

  • Follow Wegmans core recipes while preparing department offerings to ensure a consistent outcome; oversee team members work and correct any errors
  • Teach employees to correctly cook products in a pizza oven, keeping a close eye on products during the cooking process, while balancing other tasks, to ensure they are prepared to Wegmans standards of quality
  • Maintain the overall appearance of the department, ensure product levels are sustained, and cases are properly signed and well-merchandised to showcase quality
  • Educate and ensure team members are properly handling products, using equipment, and keeping accurate logs in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines

Results (What We Measure)

  • Ensure all tasks are completed in the department including making and rolling out dough; preparing pizza toppings, pizzas, calzones, and items for the wing bar; taking and preparing customer orders; and preparing, packaging and rotating products in the cold case
  • Oversee the entire operations of the Pizza department including ordering, scheduling, managing payroll, analyzing financial numbers and other elements of contribution (profit) and controlling shrink (waste)
  • Forecast department and customer needs and accurately plan daily production lists and menus

Work Environment

  • Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, frequent lifting, and occasional heavy lifting, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment. Work involves exposure to various work environments, including temperature changes. The average weight range of items lifted is 5-20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 50 pounds rarely. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
  • Work may include use of hand pallet jack, power pallet jack, power walkie-reach, scissors lift or WAV unit. Wegmans certification required for use of power equipment
