Produce Part Time Customer Service

Job Posting: 02/20/2018 Job ID: R0003064 Location: Abingdon, MD Address: Bel Air, ,21 Wegmans Blvd Age Requirement: Must be 16 years or older. Days Hours Req: Preferred candidate would be available starting at 6:00am OR until at least 9:00pm. Candidate must be available weekends. Part-time employees may work up to 30 hours/week, with shifts ranging between 4 and 8 hours at a time based on department needs. Weekly hours and specific shifts are not guaranteed and we do not offer set schedules. The most successful applicants offer an availability spanning several hours at a time, on multiple days/week. Year-round employment only. Schedule: Part-time

  • Familiarize self with products in the department and understand how products look and smell at the peak of perfection
  • Seek to expand knowledge about organics, seasonal items, cooking techniques and MENU Magazine and share knowledge with customers

Product (What We Do)

  • Trim, cut and package fruits and vegetables while maintaining attractive product appearance, rotating for freshness and minimizing shrink
  • Unload and break down deliveries and maintain department appearance by displaying proper signage and well-merchandised product
  • Properly handle products, use equipment, keep accurate logs and follow sanitation practices in accordance with food and human safety guidelines and Simplification 5S procedures

Work Environment

  • Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, occasional heavy lifting, bending, and reaching, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment. Work involves exposure to various work environments, including cold temperatures. The average weight range of items lifted is 5-20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted greater than 50 pounds occasionally. You may receive assistance with heavy items, if available. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
  • Work may require the safe and proper handling of knives and food processing equipment
  • Work includes use of hand pallet jack, power pallet jack, power walkie-reach, scissors lift or WAV unit. Wegmans certification required for use of power equipment
