Bakeshop Supervisor

Job Posting: 01/05/2018 Job ID: R0000684 Location: Rochester, NY Address: 360 Wegmans Market St Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older. Days Hours Req: 12 hour shifts, 6pm - 6am. Schedule: Full-time

To Supervise the day-to-day Bakeshop production / sanitation / materials team operations; responsible for daily operations of multiple production lines; providing incredible service and support to employees; ensuring food and human safety; product quality and efficiency of the operation.


Product (What We Do)

  • Use knowledge of Regulations governing operation (HACCP, SQF, OSHA, etc.) to administer practices and policies and ensure compliancy
  • Hold employees accountable to Wegmans company manufacturing policies and work rules
  • Ensure others are following all safety procedures, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), LOTO (Lock Out Tag Out), HACCP, and GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Demonstrate Good Manufacturing Practices to others and exercise due diligence in protecting Bakeshop products
  • Delegate and answer questions regarding product quality, product and people scheduling, daily work responsibilities
  • Identify and implement best practices, provide recommendations on improving productivity and ways to reduce operating expenses while maintaining product quality

  • Develop and communicate tactical plans and goals
  • Oversee shift operations including product quality, product & people scheduling, daily work responsibilities
  • Execute daily plans to meet productivity standard and communicating status to team members
  • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly bakery operations and working with others responsible for area goals
  • Delegate tasks to team members and empowering them to take on new challenges; ensure department tasks are prioritized and completed efficiently
  • Actively work with team to identify opportunities to identify opportunities to improve operation. Partner with support groups (Engineering, QA, Safety) on the implementation of changes in support of improvement projects
  • Maintain accuracy of Ross (ERP system) by ensuring established procedures are performed within specific time frames
  • Communicate and interact with various folks and supports the department as a subject matter expert
  • Communicate clearly and concisely with verbal and written communication, providing others with information in a timely fashion
  • Ensure equipment, regulatory compliance, process controls, and safety standards are met
  • Identify critical situations and escalate effectively
  • Make recommendations for improvements to the products, production process or production area

Work Environment

  • Fast-paced environment requiring interaction with co-workers
  • Will spend the majority of time on his or her feet and stand or walk without a break for up to 4 hours
  • Responsible for moving and lifting an average of 10-30 pounds of product on a regular basis with an occasional need to lift 50 pounds
  • Typical movements include repetitive arm and hand motions, bending, lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching and twisting
  • Work involves exposure to various work environments, including temperature changes
  • May be exposed to various allergens
  • Required to wear company-issued footwear and uniform as well as a hair net and safety glasses
  • Required to follow Good Manufacturing Practices, including no jewelry in the workplace

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelors
  • Experience at the Team Leader or Specialist level
  • Experience supervising operations with a collective bargaining agreement
  • Food manufacturing supervisory experience
  • Manufacturing systems; (ERP preferable ROSS and Kronos experience)
  • Perishable Department Manager experience
