Our customers depend on Wegmans Pharmacies to provide the best service possible when it comes to their health. In this role, you’ll oversee the entire operations of the Pharmacy department and will be responsible for everything from setting and achieving department goals to managing a team of pharmacists, team leaders and technicians. You’ll use your strong managerial skills and passion for helping others to ensure customers have a unique and personal pharmacy experience!

Providing Incredible, Knowledge Based Customer Service

  • Ensure the department focus remains on providing incredible service, communicate expectations to employees and hold them accountable for the service they provide
  • Ensure customers receive error-free products that meet Wegmans standards of quality (handling urgent cases where appropriate)
  • Embrace the concept of Workload Balancing (WLB); actively support and perform designated workflow steps to improve operational efficiencies
  • Develop a deep knowledge of pharmacy systems and operations to ensure maximization of performance and problem-solving abilities; ensuring employees are properly utilizing available systems and tools to best meet customers' needs
  • Support and have insight/knowledge on all wellness initiatives within the pharmacy (MTM, Immunization, Disease State Management, Health Screenings, etc.); ensure consistency and execution of wellness initiatives and share best practices within the pharmacy team
  • Network with store operations to cultivate external relationships that build the Business Partnership Program by identifying Preferred Rx Relationships and other business opportunities that focus on Clinical Services and the shifting role of the pharmacist

Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients

  • Maintain open lines of communication with corporate Pharmacy office and store management by sharing important pharmacy learnings, information and department communications to ensure they remain connected and involved in the department
  • Continuously self-educate about products and business trends and analyze these along with customer trends, market data and financial reports to increase profitability
  • Organize regular department meetings to communicate store, pharmacy and company information, ensuring initiatives are implemented with total involvement, excellent follow-through, and feedback
  • Positively lead and manage employees through change, including 3rd party changes in processes and practices, utilizing corporate resources to communicate pertinent information across channels
  • Verify potential licensing in any state Wegmans does business

Results (What We Measure))

  • Oversee all operations essential to successful operations of the Pharmacy, including required tracking, paperwork (projections, payroll), workflow, ordering, scheduling, employee training, prompt resolution of issues, etc.
  • Set and achieve goals with Pharmacists and Team Leaders, holding them accountable for financial measures of sales and contribution, and people measures of retention, diversity, and development, educating them on factors such as labor, shrink, inventory, gross margin, and generic utilization
  • Manage workflow and product dispensing, assist as necessary and ensure employees are utilizing preferred methods; partner with other members of management to evaluate workflow practices and identify continuous improvement opportunities
  • Partner with Store Manager and other Area Managers to champion company initiatives in the department and throughout the store; work cross-functionally to incorporate programs in the Pharmacy and vice versa

Work Environment

  • Work includes frequent use of a computer and telephone, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment. The average weight range of items lifted is 1-10 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 35 pounds rarely. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction).
