Produce Assistant Manager

Job Posting: 01/11/2018 Job ID: R0000936 Location: Burlington, MA Address: Burlington, 53 Third Avenue Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older. Days Hours Req: Full time applicants will be required to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and must be available Monday through Saturday throughout the year, including some holidays. Sundays are not required but will be paid at time and one half. Shifts vary based on department and typically include a variety of early mornings, afternoons and evenings for all employees. Schedule: Full-time

  • Maintain department appearance, product levels, and efficiency; use knowledge of product, trends, and seasonality to accurately forecast needs and adjust order
  • Follow company standards of merchandising, showcase quality, freshness and unique products offered; highlight Peak of Perfection, featured, and seasonal items to drive sales
  • Oversee order deliveries, ensure product quality; take appropriate steps to resolve product concerns

Results (What We Measure)

  • Perform essential tasks for efficient Produce operations; orders, schedules, and manage payroll; relay pertinent information to Store Management; ensure efficient operations
  • Collaborate with internal partners, outside vendors and local farmers
  • Ensure proper handling of products, use of equipment; ensure food & human safety, simplification, company policies and procedures are followed

Work Environment

  • Work includes walking, standing for up to 4 hours without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, occasional heavy lifting, bending, and reaching, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment. Work involves exposure to various work environments, including cold temperatures. The average weight range of items lifted is 5-20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted greater than 50 pounds occasionally. You may receive assistance with heavy items, if available. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction)
  • Work may require the safe and proper handling of knives and food processing equipment
  • Work includes use of hand pallet jack, power pallet jack, power walkie-reach, scissors lift or WAV unit. Wegmans certification required for use of power equipment

Preferred Qualifications
  • Customer service experience, preferably in a food service, grocery or retail setting
  • Managerial/ supervisory experience including delegating tasks to others
