Job Posting: 12/15/2017 Job ID: 1710633 Location: Medford, MA Address: Medford, 3850 Mystic Parkway (Rte. 16) Age Requirement: Must be 18 years or older. Days Hours Req: Preferred availability for this position is Monday through Saturday between the hours of 11am and 11pm (Sundays optional). Our existing stores experience busy sales patterns on the weekends. All hourly employees will earn time and one-half on Sunday. Schedule: Part-time

The job of Restaurant Customer Service is to provide incredible service by working with the service team in attending to tables and meeting the needs of guests and supporting the Culinary Team in accurately expediting and delivering food items to our guests. This position will work with other Restaurant team members to ensure all elements of an exceptional dining experience are achieved.

Providing Incredible, Knowledge Based Customer Service

  • Provide incredible service to guests by delivering and expediting dishes prepared by the kitchen to the guests’ tables accurately, with a sensitivity to time and an understanding of the importance of maintaining the integrity of the food
  • Maintain a high level of awareness of the work being done by the service group and culinary operations to ensure proactive assistance is provided to both teams, including running food and clearing/cleaning tables
  • Work in conjunction with the service team to ensure a positive guest experience by cashing out guests at the register, maintaining tables, and serving guests in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner
  • Follow regulations for checking guest identification to ensure legal drinking age and no alcohol is being served to anyone under 21 years of age
  • Continue to study menu changes, service techniques and attend beverage classes whenever possible to continue to grow food, service and beverage knowledge
  • Learn about special events and general restaurant operations to provide support and perform additional tasks as needed
  • Follow proper recipes to ensure dessert menu offerings are consistently prepared to showcase high standards of quality and guests receive one-of-a-kind desserts they can’t receive elsewhere 
  • Properly handle products, use equipment and keep accurate logs in accordance with food safety and safety guidelines; as well as comply with State Restaurant Health Code Regulations
  • Utilize Wegmans core recipes to prepare coffee shop drink orders with speed, accuracy, and a consistent outcome in line with Wegmans Standards of quality [Remove bullet if coffee shop responsibility does not apply]

Ensuring High Quality Products & Ingredients

  • Ensure food is presented with an exceptional level of detail in keeping with the culinary team’s expectations for such elements as appearance and temperature
  • Prepare the dining room, bar and event areas for service with exceptional attention to detail; ensuring all areas are clean, organized and well-stocked with necessary supplies
  • Perform opening and closing procedures, including any assigned side work, and ensure all tasks are completed in a prompt and efficient manner

What skills, learnings, and experiences are preferred and will set me apart?

  • Customer Service experience working in retail, restaurant service or other  hospitality related industry experience
  • Certification of training in liquor, wine, beer, food service and/ or alcohol awareness programs
  • Quick service Restaurant experience
  • Barista certification [Remove bullet if coffee shop responsibility does not apply]
  • Able to problem solve, anticipating, analyzing, and identifying problems, responding quickly when situations arise and preventing problems when possible

Work environment:

  • Work includes continuous walking, standing for prolonged periods of time without a break, repetitive hand and arm movements, bending, reaching, frequent lifting and carrying, and occasional heavy lifting, along with continuous interaction with customers and co-workers in a fast-paced environment. Work includes forceful gripping as well as awkward and forceful postures of the wrist. Work may include frequent stair climbing. Work involves exposure to various work environments, including temperature changes. The average weight range of items lifted is 10-20 pounds with a maximum weight lifted of 40 pounds occasionally. May be exposed to various allergens (things that may cause an allergic reaction).
