Job Description

At Weber Shandwick, our mission is to be "engaging, always." We're always looking for people who want to join us in our pursuit and be part of a team that delivers on that promise.

We're going beyond traditional lines to integrate social, digital, advertising, content, PR, corporate reputation and public affairs. So we need different kinds of people, and all with special talents. We're constantly looking for more of them.

And while Weber Shandwick employs lots of smart people and plenty of out-of-the-box thinkers, what truly defines us is our collaborative culture. With a borderless approach, we find the best and brightest across continents to deliver results on behalf of our clients. We also see diversity and inclusion as more than a priority, but as a competitive advantage to bring diverse ideas and points of view to the table.

And at the heart of everything we do is The Incite: helping to create work for clients that provokes, generates conversations, tells stories, brings people together.

Weber Shandwick is a global company with offices in more than 80 countries, so we offer the advantages of a big firm - from leading-edge research, sophisticated technology and the resources to invest in growth. But, at our heart, we still have the spirit of the small company we used to be - entrepreneurial, ambitious, warm, fun.

About the role:

The Detroit office of Weber Shandwick is seeking a Copywriter to join our growing creative team as an intern. We are looking for someone with the right combination of conceptual approach, self-motivation, and artistic skills necessary to create, sell and execute impactful ideas for our clients.

You will be instrumental in defining the conceptual approach and tone of voice for multiple projects and assignments across a variety of communication strategies and channels. You need to be obsessive about honing your craft and polishing your words. Understanding brand tone, a passion for problem solving, and the ability to spin stories out of thin air, must be in your DNA.

If you are serious about stepping outside your comfort zone, diversifying your portfolio, and creating impactful newsworthy ideas that set the internet on fire, then we would love to talk to you.

Responsibilities:

* Crafting stories and building brands through campaign level thinking and execution
* Ongoing development of new ideas, creative concepts, headlines, video scripts and various other forms of online/offline brand storytelling
* Remain current on industry and cultural trends and technology, and look for opportunities to incorporate them into your creative concepts
* Presenting ideas and production-ready executions to internal and external stakeholders
* Ensure all creative adheres to existing brand guidelines
* Work with art directors, designers, strategists, producers and other team members to flesh out the creative development of ideas and tactical executions
* Develop original concepts across print, digital and video disciplines and see through to completion
* Responsible for editing and proofing materials during all project phases
* Wear multiple hats - depending on your skills, there will be times when you will have to drive the creative process

Education and Experience:

* A bachelor's degree in advertising is preferred.
* Must be self-motivated, hard working, well organized, and resilient to ever-changing timelines, requests, and deliverables
* Ongoing drive to understand emerging techniques, trends and philosophies in marketing, technology, interaction and social media
* Experience working in the automotive industry is preferred (not mandatory).
* Must have a portfolio (share anything that conveys the way you think or approach assignments, even if it was never produced; we like chicken scratches).
* Bonus Skills: blogging, journalism, social community management, filmmaking, videography, editorial, art direction, design, illustration, photography
