Job Description


The Waukesha County Department of Public Works is seeking to hire a Civil Engineering Student Co-op to begin work with the County in Spring 2018(January). This position is planned for three alternating semesters; Spring 2018, Fall 2018, and Summer 2019. The qualified person hired for this position will aid the Department Engineering Staff in the Design, Construction and Operation of the Waukesha County Highway system.

Example of Duties

Roadway Design, Field Surveying and Staking, Computer Drafting, Traffic Analysis, Traffic Data Collection, Pavement Design, Construction Inspection, Culvert Inspection, Bridge Inspections and Inventory, Paving and many other tasks as assigned by the engineering staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants should currently be enrolled in a Civil Engineering or closely-related Bachelor's degree program. Applicants should be at a Junior or Senior level status.

Supplemental Information

This position would have a 40-hour work week from 8:00am to 4:30pm with a ½ hour lunch break. Additional overtime hours will be available to monitor the County's paving program.
