Job Description

Simulation Operations Specialist

Washington State University College of Nursing is currently recruiting for a Simulation Operations Specialist (actual title: Instruction and Classroom Support Technician 3) in Spokane, WA. This is a 100%, 10-month per academic year (August 1 – May 31), civil service position.

The Simulation Operations Specialist will provide support for all simulation operations, including operation, preparation, cleaning, maintenance and repair of computerized mannequins (software and hardware), task trainers and related multimedia peripherals. This position will work collaboratively with the Director of Clinical Simulation to program appropriate scenarios and physiological responses of high fidelity mannequins. Provides simulation facilitator faculty and external customers support and setup of simulation center technologies. Implements high fidelity simulation activities that meet standards of realism, reliability, validity, feasibility and risk management. Coordinates set up of Standardized Patients for simulation activities. Operates all mannequin-based simulation events. Has ability to work independently, exercise good judgement, prioritize work and use initiative. Regularly maintains Center’s equipment to ensure continuous operations of the Center. Serves as the technical support for the College of Nursing’s Center for Clinical Performance and Simulation.

Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree with major study in a basic applied science AND two years of full-time experience as a Instruction & Classroom Support Technician 2; OR equivalent education/experience.

Additional Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in design and troubleshooting of audiovisual systems.
  • Demonstrated experience providing simulation technology technical support.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with 3rd party medical simulation equipment, AMX control systems, Microsoft Windows Operating System troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Patient Simulation Technologies.
  • Experience working in a healthcare setting.
  • Experience with medical terminology.
  • Previous experience working in higher education.
