Job Description

General Summary

With minimal supervision, deliver legendary service to VSP clients with up to 10,000 members and moderate degrees of complexity. Act as expert advisor on client service and billing operations, research, and analysis and problem resolution. Ensure the aging of accounts receivable for assigned clients are reconciled at a level consistent with VSP’s financial controls.

Essential Functions

Consistently deliver a high level of service to achieve and maintain high satisfaction levels and support client retention

Respond to a minimum amount of incoming ACD calls daily and as business needs require

Research, resolve, and respond to issues and inquiries from clients and brokers. Appropriately elevate situations that could have company wide impacts to drive solutions as needed

Participate in client meetings and work with internal business partners to address moderate to complex client issues

Accurate and timely post all accounts receivable, including the posting of live checks, lockbox checks, ACH wires and online automatic deductions to ensure the aging of accounts receivable for assigned clients are reconciled at a level consistent with VSP’s financial controls

Perform collection activities for past due receivables, including collection calls, collection letters, negotiating payment plans and sending accounts to outside collection agencies

Proactively monitor fluctuations in client revenue to identify problematic issues and ensure accurate financial reporting for clients, internal reporting and compliance

Act as point of contact for incoming calls from external and internal business partners regarding questions about billing and collections

Job Specifications

Requires one - two years of experience in a call center for insurance, medical, telecomm, retail or banking, or a Bachelor's degree with customer service experience

Organization and time management skills to prioritize multiple tasks, and to be available for a high volume of incoming calls

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with internal and external business partners

Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve complex problems requiring changes in priorities and workflow, or partnering with other units

Must be detail oriented and accurate

Solution-oriented approach to work

Proficient in a Windows environment with word processing, spreadsheet application and data entry

Strong math skills

Clean credit history as reported by credit report

  • Ability to type 35 wpm
  • Ability to perform 10-Key by touch (6,000 ksph)
  • Math
  • MS Excel

Preferred Skills

  • Familiarity with VSP Vision Care products, services and systems.

Working Conditions / Physical Demands

The working environment is generally favorable.  Lighting and temperature are adequate, and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust etc.
