Work Tasks and Responsibilities

The Intern - Emerging Technologies Engineer position is a unique opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience and get exposed to the newest technologies being developed at Volvo Construction Equipment (CE). During this internship you will work closely with the Emerging Technologies (ET) research engineers at Volvo CE and help develop working prototypes, investigate emerging technologies, and prove new concepts.


The hired Intern - Emerging Technologies Engineer is involved in the continuous search by the ET team for new technologies that fit with Volvo CE's strategy for the future. Volvo CE's small team of ET research engineers takes responsibility for our long-term technology goals and collaborates with the product development engineers to secure that knowledge is being transferred in both directions. By striving to offer our customers the best possible solutions for their operations, the ET team identifies and evaluates promising technologies. The ET team targets technologies that would make Volvo machines highly intelligent, safe, energy efficient, and productive. As an Intern - Emerging Technologies Engineer, you will be part of the ET family and you would take part in this quest.

Overall Requirements

* Full time student
* Excellent spoken and written English (Additional languages are given merit)

Additional Requirements

* Rapid prototyping tools, and Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation and testing
* Microprocessor programing and real-time embedded systems
* Sensors engineering, data acquisition, and signal processing

Preferred Requirements

* Experience in dynamic simulations
* Knowledge in mathematics and data processing

Analyti Capabilities

* Experience from automotive, on-road or off-highway vehicles
* Experience from Academia research

Education and possible specialization

* A graduate student with a B.Sc. in the areas of control systems, robotics or electrical/electronic engineering is preferred. The student must have at least 30 credited hours at a university with an average of a 3.0 GPA.
