The Physical Therapist Department Supervisor oversees the functioning of the department and manages the delivery of physical therapy services. Supervises physical therapy screening, evaluations, and performs the duties assigned to a staff physical therapist.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The position requires a New York State License including the requirements mandated by the Federation of State Boards in Physical Therapy, a Master's degree in physical therapy, experience and/or training in pediatrics.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Ensures that therapy services are delivered to all mandated or referred children in the school.

2. Screens and evaluates children to obtain and interpret data necessary for planning intervention and for

treatment planning. Performs advanced, specialized evaluations or assessments as indicated by an

individual child's needs.

3. Ensures that documentation related to the provision of service

4. Follows to the Physical Therapy Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as well as Volunteers of

America policies and procedures.

5. Maintains treatment areas, and equipment as required.

6. Supervises Physical Therapists (registered), Physical Therapy Assistants (PTA) and physical therapy

student interns.

7. Participate in professional development activities as mandated by Volunteers of America and the

requirements for the continuation of physical therapy licensure.

8. Assume, as necessary, responsibility as coordinator/supervisor for clinicians' input of daily session notes

and other mandated information in the Department of Education, NYC's Easy Trac system.
