Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Product Manager willbe responsible for managing the product portfolio, including establishing theproduct hierarchy and creating and maintaining the overall marketing plan. As a key member of the marketing department,the Product Manager will be responsible for understanding market needs, drivingproduct strategies and plans and ensuring alignment across functions. This position will work closely with Sales, NewProduct Development and Industrial Engineering to ensure all new products meetthe criteria for creation and have the full collateral and sales support forproduct launch. The Product Manager willwork with the Marketing Art Department to ensure product marketing materialsmeet and support the brand promise. Thisposition will also recommend product strategies for promotional vehicles andfor trade show representation.

Essential Functions:

* Creates compelling business case for assigned products and programs
* Conducts and analyzes market and consumer research and makes product recommendations based upon insights
* Develops marketing strategy across products and platforms including creation of marketing and communication plans and writing creative briefs
* Creates product and portfolio positioning to clearly communicate benefits, features and differentiation with current and competitive set and ensures product has a clear reason for being
* Analyzes sales data to identify trends and product line gaps
* Initiates and manages creation of marketing materials for promotional support or product launch
* Guides products from concept through launch and post-launch analysis
* Manages cross-functional projects to ensure that new products and programs are launched on time with a cohesive consumer driven marketing strategy
* Manages website projects and programs
* Supports trade show activity
* Manages a marketing budget
* Supports additional department programs and priorities as directed by Director of Marketing

QUALIFICATION GUIDELINES

Required Qualifications:

* 4-year college degree (preferably in marketing)
* Minimum of 5-7 years product marketing experience with a consumer branded product manufacturer (Business to Business experience a plus but not required)
* Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
* Knowledge of packaging and marketing collateral design and development
* Excellent written and oral communication skills
* Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and work with other departments and functions
* Ability to self-direct and demonstrate strategic thinking while managing day to day business including detailed program execution
* Ability to travel (less than 10% of time)
