Job Description

ViaSat is looking for a Network Engineer interested in joining our engineering lab team responsible for operating the lab environment for ViaSat-1's commercial broadband satellite systems. You will be part of a team responsible for providing a complete and reliable lab environment through which engineering organizations validate new solutions and troubleshoot existing solutions operating in the production networks. You will grow your networking communications and systems expertise while helping to maintain a stable working lab environments utilized by all the engineering departments.

Requirements

- Understanding of network communication protocols (IPv4, IPv6, TCP, UDP, DHCP, ARP, GRE, DNS, SNMP and FTP)

- Understanding of IP addressing schemes (CIDR, VLSM) and IP routing

- Understanding of Windows and UNIX based environments

- BSEE/BSCS or technical Bachelor degree

- U.S. Citizenship or Lawful Permanent Residence status may be required for some projects in which case, verification of such status will be required upon accepting employment
Preferences

- Comfortable working in RF/digital laboratory with a willingness to learn and apply best practices for equipment organization, layout, cabling, grounding, safety, etc.
- Experience working within test environments
- Exposure to network monitoring protocols and tools such as SNMP, Wireshark, Nagios and Tivoli
- Industry technical certifications a plus!!
