DESCRIPTION:

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert is hiring a Footage AP. The position is responsible for producing footage-based research under a tight deadline for a daily show. The role requires an in-depth understanding of the day's news cycle, the current political scene and commentary surrounding it. Ideal candidate has experience in TV news and/or comedy. An affinity for keeping up with current events and breaking news is a must.

Responsibilities:

* Work with various news platforms to watch multiple channels throughout the day, informing the writing staff of stories/quotes. Proficiency on Snapstream a plus.


* Track news cycle on social media.


* Convey live events/happenings (e.g. Congressional hearings, press conferences, speeches) to writers with corresponding footage selects for the monologue and any other acts of comedy in the show.


* Pitch footage with comedic potential to the writers.


* Deliver/produce elements for daily scripts with editors, including but not limited to: voiceover parodies, montages, supercuts, and read-ons.


* Field last-minute footage requests and changes from rewrite room up until taping.


* Coordinate with show/network lawyer and rights/clearances supervisor to clear footage and music use for air.


* Maintain searchable archive for the show.


* Assist field/talent/cold open departments with gathering footage (e.g. news pegs, show appearances, old commercials).



QUALIFICATIONS:

* Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience.


* At least two years in television production is required.


* Transcription skills also required.


* Experience using Snapstream a plus.


* Editing experience a plus.


* Any live producing skills a plus.


* Candidates should be able to identify possibilities for comedy within the day's news.
