The co-op role is based within the Process Chemistry department which has overall responsibility for the development of the synthetic route and chemical manufacturing processes for all active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs) in the Vertex product portfolio. The intern will join a group focused on developing continuous chemistry approaches and application of new processing technologies to the manufacture of Vertex APIs. The role will support the development of our continuous chemistry platforms as well as synthesizing target molecules using both batch and continuous chemistry methods. Your job will be to develop a high degree of competency in operating the continuous chemistry equipment, to work semi-independently on specific projects and may include teaching other group members how to perform new functions on the equipment.
