As an intern, you will have the opportunity to write and publish a review article. In addition, the intern will learn all about a fascinating research topic and acquire the skills necessary to build a solid database that will surely be useful for your future scientific career. As a Varian Proton Solutions intern, you will gain visibility as you interact with multiple team members and have a chance to really contribute to the success of the company. You will experience what it is like to work in a corporate environment and make valuable connections for your future.

In this role, you will:

* Identify and read relevant scientific articles of interest.
* Contribute to building a database architecture in a logical scientific way.
* Extract relevant scientific information from the literature and updating the database with it.
* Maintain the database up to date.
* Give demonstrations on how to use the database to the different team members.
* Optimize the database as the team comes up with new scientific questions or queries.

Job Requirements

* Graduate student, PhD candidate (masters student with research experience also acceptable) in biomedical engineering, medical physics, biology, medicine or related scientific field.
* Experience in literature review, reading and deep understanding of scientific articles ideally in radiation oncology or related field. Scientific publications of your own is a plus.
* Capacity to identify patterns and ability to synthesize and summarize information in a concise form.
* Computer skills: Microsoft Excel, experience using Microsoft Access or similar database software preferred.
* Programming experience is a plus.
* Ability to work independently while maintaining open communication and providing regular updates on the progress of the project.
