Job Description

The Research Physicist Intern will set-up and execute various high power microwave and accelerator laboratory

experiments. The intern will learn practical aspects of high power microwave systems, practical aspects of accelerator

Assessment of Accelerator Design. The Intern will modify existing laboratory configurations and will set-up new configurations to perform additional measurements. The Intern will write LabVIEW code to drive automated measurements. In the early days, the Intern will receive guidance from Varian experts; later on, we hope the Intern will be sufficiently knowledgeable to work

without close guidance.Objective: Higher dose rate in a small volume without arcing. The intern will write LabVIEW

code that correlates the acoustic signal of potential arcs to the microwave signals indicating that an arc had actually

occurred.

Job Requirements

Courses and degrees that cover at least intermediate level Electricity & Magnetism.

Some exposure to LabVIEW or other forms of experimental automation is a strong asset.
