Job Description

Transit & Rail Intern

VHB, a nationally recognized leader in design, is seeking a Transit & Rail Intern to work in our Boston, MA office.

VHBs passionate professionals include engineers, scientists, planners, and designers who partner with public and private clients in the transportation, real estate, institutional, and energy industries, as well as federal, state, and local governments.

Together, we work to improve mobility, enhance communities and economic vitality, and balance development and infrastructure needs with environmental stewardship.

Interns will work on civil engineering projects and will learn technical skills and computational software.


* Effectively interact with numerous VHB staff, clients, and consultants to advance projects in a timely manner
* Engineering calculations
* Preliminary and final design plans
* Contract documents including specifications
* Engineers estimates
* Preparing construction documents

Skills and Abilities

* Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
* Ability to independently manage multiple tasks and interact appropriately and positively with clients
* Self-motivated with attention to detail


* Currently pursuing undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering
* Must have the ability to conduct tasks independently
* Strong interest in civil engineering
